Happy Father's Day tomorrow to all you dads out there. Simply stated, it is quite an honor to be called father!

As you read this week's installment, our family of 9 is off enjoying our great U.S. of A., celebrating a significant milestone.

We are recognizing the 40th wedding anniversary for my bride, Lady Deborah, and me!

Hopefully, our group will create more lasting memories, while we laugh a great deal. and, as usual, totally enjoy each other's company.

Let's now discuss how our long-time relationship got started, and has progressed.

Rewind back to 1979 in San Diego County, California. I was there, city of Chula Vista, to be exact, opening my first private medical practice in this location. just south of beautiful San Diego. Justifiably, San Diego has been self-labeled "America's Finest City". My first medical office was only 7 miles north of the huge international border city, Tijuana, Mexico. In addition to my own private solo practice, I also worked in a part-time position for Kaiser Permanente Healthcare; their medical offices were located in the Kearney Mesa area (northern part) of San Diego. It was at this part-time job I met Ms. Debbie. She was the chief medical assistant for a large (6 physicians) dermatology group medical practice. This practice saw several hundred patients each day, and I worked there one morning each week. Both my future bride and I had been previously married, and we had one biological child each, hers a girl, 4,and mine a boy, 3.

The initial chemistry between us was great, and, in reality, the ultimate die was cast. At our first real "date", she quickly ordered a banana split; also a favorite dish of mine, but that factoid, totally unknown to her. Because of her first food request in my company, I reflectively said, "Where have you been all my life?"

Today, put in simple terms, that initial food order has equated to 40 years of marital bliss!

So, Ms. Debbie and I left our Kaiser jobs, and she came to work with me in Chula Vista. However, that working situation did not last too long, as a dermatologist who was leaving the Navy, wanted to purchase my Chula Vista medical practice . At about the same exact moment in time, Dr. Tom Harris, the dermatologist who moved to Our Town in 1977, wanted to sell his practice here to me, and return to Jackson, Michigan. He had previously practiced there with another dermatologist in a partnership. Like magic, the entire changing process worked out, and Ms. Debbie and I relocated to Our Town in September, 1981. I began seeing patients here the next month, so this October will total 40 years of private practice for me in Our Town. My bride, who was born, raised, and lived in San Diego for over 30 years, has absolutely loved our little piece of paradise in north central Oklahoma for almost 40 years now. Of course, I knew how special a place we have here, since my father, Col. C.H. Breedlove, moved our small family to Our Town in July, 1953. He had been graduated from then Oklahoma A&M College here in the late 1920's, and previously had been graduated from Ardmore High School. One can easily tell, Breedlove roots run very DEEP in Our Town.

My bride and I decided to have a third child here, and our youngest, Robbie, was born in late March, 1983. All 3 of our children, eldest Michelle, middle Allan, and #3 Robbie, completed their public school educations in Our Town. Robbie is an OSU graduate, and Allan is an OU alumni.

Our family is a certainly tight-knit group. I give all the credit to our matriarch, wife, and mother, Ms. Deborah. She is certainly a keeper! Happy Anniversary, Sweet Lady, from our entire bunch!
